Hello sweety,
I trust you are doing great wherever you are, and making the most of your time in school, because i
have a strong conviction that i will be marrying a rare gem- a lady that will stand out in all her endeavours.
Now, you may be wondering why I'm already addressing you a letter roughly nine years to the magnificent day we would be tying the nuptial knots. Well, the reasons are simple and explicit - I just want to make you realise how close that day is. Albeit, "nine years” sound like a century away to the ear but to the heart it is tomorrow.
In light of my first reason, I also want you know that i have started preparing for that great day materially, spiritually, financially and emotionally. Believe me, i truly and earnestly have.
How do i mean? Yes, the other day i was fortunate enough to accompany a neigbour of mine and his kinsmen to the household of his intending bride for what they described as "knocking on the door”, we were warmly welcomed and made our intentions known after which we were presented a list of items to provide on or before our next visit.
The gist is that the content of this list was financially "deadly”. He was going to practically feed the village, or how else could i figure out what a lorry of yam tubers, five goats and jars of palm wine would be used for, putting aside the Echolacc bag to be filled with clothing?
Having had this experience, i told myself that no list would be an impediment to our matrimony, because you are certainly worth more than all those items, a gem close to my heart.
So, even as an undergraduate that is toiling, I'm beginning to put things in place. Just a fortnight ago, i bought a piece of fabric from my savings, asides that I recently started an animal farm where i can breed goats and other animals i feel they may demand, even snakes because I'm giving no room to chances. I am doing all these already and i want you to flow with the current trend .
Pay utmost attention here, as i am about to highlight an earthshaking reason why i wrote you this letter: Food! Food!! Food!!! "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach”, is a maxim i implore you to hold on to with all your heart from now because you will need it a throughout our matrimonial journey.
I love good food and i eat a lot.with a plate of melon soup(egusi) garnished with fresh fish and pounded Yam, my dear you can have me do anything for you. I could even carry you on my back to your workplace. So, take your time now and submit yourself wholly to your mummy especially in the kitchen so that you can learn all those culinary skills; to me, they are more important than the skills of "za oza room”. So take note.
Lastly, as a "super man” that i am building myself to become, i can't find any better sense of fulfillment than having a "super lady” to complement me. How do i define a " Super Lady”? Simply put that a Super lady is a lady that is brillianty and incredibly versatile, godly, graceful yet a fashionista.
Asides of course, the love you would have for me, this will probably be the best gift you will be giving me when we start our matrimonial journey.
Let me end this letter on the note that i am building myself to be the husband that you deserve; yes i may not be perfect but i promise you that this experience will be blissful. Oh! I almost forgot, learn how to play Scrabble too.
Your future husband, Ben.
